A new study shows social media is more valuable than before

Many companies are utilizing social media marketing nowadays.

In fact, there is a lot of growth in the use as more companies are seeing the overall value in social media.

According to a study from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Marketing Research, 71% of companies used Facebook in 2010, up from 61% in 2009. Twitter use is up to 59% in 2010 from 52% in 2009.

Facebook wasn’t the overall leader in social media though. Message and bulletin boards garnered the most success with 93% reporting positive usage. Online video was tied with 93% reporting success. Blogging rounded out the top three with 86%.

In 2010, 86% of businesses surveyed said social media is somewhat to very important to their business and marketing strategies in 2010. This is up from 79% in 2009.
